My family loves the chicken seasoning that I make. This is a homemade variety that tastes so good and is so nutritional. You can make all kinds of dishes with it; stir-fry, soups, or as that extra something a dish needs to make it taste good. You can pretty much doctor up any dish that doesnt taste so good.
The onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, and turmeric are all germ fighters. So, this is a great recipe for yourself and your family to help you to not get sick. Who knew something so tasty could be so good for you?
You can add it to any soup, casserole, or main dish recipe that doesnt taste that good. It really helps. Once I made a vegetarian noodles casserole that had tomatoes, zucchini, and onions in it. It was a lot of work and the sauce didnt taste so good.
So, I just put the chicken seasoning on the table along with some real salt. Everyone sprinkled some of both on their noodle dish. They ended up loving it so much that they wanted me to make it again. It tasted like it had a Campbells Cream of Chicken or Cream of Mushroom Soup sauce on it.
If you take about 1/4 cup of the chicken seasoning, you can add it to 2 cups hot cooked white beans and just enough water to cover the beans plus an inch above the beans in the blender to make a chicken flavored gravy really quick. Add 1/2 a quartered yellow onion and 1 garlic bud before blending for better flavor. Theres a special secret ingredient that adds a nice flavor that I tell my Bargain Beans classes about.
The nutritional yeast can be bought at a health food store. It is not the type of yeast for making bread. It has all of the B vitamins in it and is very nutritional. Here is what the nutritional yeast looks like:
Homemade Chicken Seasoning

- 1 1/2 cups nutritional yeast
- 3 Tbsp onion powder
- 3 Tbsp real salt
- 1 1/2 Tbsp basil
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until well mixed. Store in a glass jar. I like to use a small Adams peanut butter jar. Keep the lid on in case there is moisture in the air. You dont want it to get all caked.
